When I didn’t get my shipment of yarn on Friday I figured I wouldn’t see it until today (Tuesday) since it was a holiday weekend. So I was surprised and delighted to find it on my doorstep on Saturday! I got started on my September 2010 CAL pretty much right away. I have possibly a few of you that are interested in joining me for the CAL. I found a Ravelry thread for it here if anyone wants to discuss it further. The designer, Kristin Omdahl, mentioned it on her blog over the weekend so perhaps a few more have come along? I still have an extra copy of the magazine with the pattern that I’ll send to someone for free to whoever asks for it first.
Anyway, here’s what I have so far:

No problems so far but I’m only through row 5. I’m reminded of the last time I crocheted with lace-weight yarn. It certainly is time consuming! But the results are so beautiful so it will be worth it.

I didn’t post about these right away because they were a surprise gift for my grandma but I can’t believe I forgot to post about them altogether. So here they are, six months later…
In January I visited my grandma in Florida and while I was there I finished my first pair of crocheted socks. She was so impressed with my handiwork that I started another pair for her when I got home. I had enough yarn leftover to make her a matching “Crochargosy” scarf too. The colorway I used has some of her favorite colors and they are both light enough to use most of the year, even in Florida.

Even though I haven’t yet finished the August CAL, I’m planning and have ordered yarn for my September project: the Peaseblossom Tunic designed by Kristin Omdahl from the Summer 2010 issue of Interweave Crochet. I happen to have 2 copies (I bought it, then subscribed to it and they sent me another copy) so I’ll even send the whole magazine to the first person who wants it (comment below!)
Yesterday I ordered yarn for it (along with yarn for a couple secret projects). I’ve been wanting to make a lacy sweater for a while so I’m looking forward to getting started. There is a possible CAL for this on Ravelry here and possible discussion here.
