Fastener Ideas

Does anyone besides me hate sewing on buttons?  I personally have a sweater that has been otherwise finished for months that just needs buttons and I keep putting off finishing it just because I don’t want to sew them on.  I’m just not good at sewing.  Whenever I’m crocheting something that needs some sort of closure, I generally assume I’ll have to apply buttons (not to mention button holes or loops) but I have to stop and remind myself that there are many alternatives to buttons that are easier to implement, my recent favorite being Doris Chan’s in-line links.  These are essentially 2 buttons attached to each other by beaded elastic so they can be moved and removed easily.  (She has a photo of them at the end of this post and they are featured in her book Everyday Crochet.)  I’ve therefore compiled a list of ideas that can be referred to when deciding on clothing fasteners.  Feel free to suggest others if you’ve thought of something I have left out!
